Ok, I bought some reissues of the sun sides in the 70s as I knew I'd never find the originals. Got all the RCA stuff including Perfect For Parties, but the sun is out of my reach. Take care.

Infamous is not referring to the recordings themselves. I agree that they are still fresh sounding sixty plus years after they were recorded. I'm referring to the status the records (as in the artifacts themselves) hold. In the mid 90's Elvis' Sun singles (both 45 and 78 versions) were targeted by people who bought them up and artificially inflated the price. The most notorious being "That's All Right, Mama." Their lack of knowledge about the hobby caused repercussions still felt now.

"infamous Sun records"!?!?!? Why is that? I think the Sun sides were the most original things Elvis ever did. Love alot of the RCA sides, but the Sun stuff was magic.

Would you happen to know the 1970's bumper music used on the Barry Farber talk show? Thanks. Michael

Hello, gr8 stuff all around. I believe that the "Hi" of the Hi record label also has musical notes surrounding it on either side, thus the inferred match-up of "Hi - NOTE". I have owned the same record & other artists on the same label & have always understood it to be "Hi - Note", rather than just "Hi". I share your love of music and have floor to ceiling bins full of collected records over 46 years. 78's, Lp.s 45s, cassettes, 8 track, reel to reel & digital tape & cd-roms.I alsoDidRadioAsWell

Love Bill Black. Thanks for sharing all these cool sides. I really like your intros too. It takes me back to my childhood in the seventies when I used to listen to the local top forty AM station in Oil City, PA. Keep up the good work. Another side note. Bill Black was Elvis' bass player of the infamous Sun records singles. When the credit read Elvis Presley and then Scotty and Bill, Bill was Bill Black.

Just curious, I grew up in the 'burbs of Detroit and listened to CKLW often... your voice sounds familiar, and I wondered if you were a dj there back in the good old days... if not, you should have been ! Great voice for radio !!! Merry Christmas and thanks for all the great music memories !
