It isnt just about spitting at the top of the dome, Most of a freestyle is about being able to flow on a beat you've never heard before, or rapper over before. Its about taking lyrics you already know, and combining them with new lyrics you came up with on the spot. L did enough battle rapping to make his name. Besides, L didnt pre-write freestyles dumbass. What he did was combine old with new, and made a "freestyle"

how the fuck you gonna sit there and say Big L couldnt flow. That nigga had more flow than most any rappers alive today. That nigga L was up there with Pac and Biggie. I think Big L was better than both of them, He started his own label after Colombia told him what he could and couldnt say on the mic. That nigga was real. Easily the worst thing that happened to rap was Big L getting killed. So much potential lost for no reason.
