Does anybody know where this song exists, other than Youtube? Diggers With Gratitude released 'The Juice Crew EP' in 2008 with a version of this tune, but it's considerably "cleaned up".

You can't really say that because he never really heard Rakim in a battle. You can't really judge Rakim from his records. But I got a chance to see Rakim in the streets face to face and I heard him spit right on the scene. Kane was great, but Rakim would of easily destroyed him.

I agree with you about Kane beating Rakim. But, what I would like to point out is that Rakim's songs appealed to the street. There is no question about it. Kane's songs catered to everybody. Now, as far as song for song who was better, I could say that it was even. However, if what we are debating is who is better in a battle. As if both rakim and kane on stage with a mic and the crowd is in the auditorium and both of them going back and forth at each other, then Kane would destroy rakim.

Big Daddy Kane would beat the shit out of Rakim Rakim has trayectory and all that shit that every hip hop head knows but Kane is a lyrical assasinator I think Kane is a lot better than Ra ( i listened to both artists whole discographies) but Kool G Rap would defeat Rakim and Kane at the same time lol

Agreed. Matter of fact, I'm glad you mentioned Grand Daddy I U. Forgot about that dude. He too was another Mr Magic favorite. Kane solidified his "Mac" status when he did his video verse to "the Symphony" as he appeared separately from the other MC's. I knew what time it was then fa sho.

I think that where we miss each others point. Dark gable appear to always be part of what kane was. Aint no half steppn is the beginning of kanes rein and he is kool playa from day one. i dont think he changed into dark gable or black ceasar. he felt like a seventies black exploitation star and that was his swagger. father mc and grand daddy i u and several others did bite. i didnt think kwame was trying Kane swag. he had that kid n play feel and kane never came off kiddish. flow is spectacular

No my brotha. I wasn't saying Kane took anyone's persona, I said after he crossed and became Dark Gable (the Black Clark Gable), he took Father MC's image personal because Father MC COPIED Kane's pimpin' style. Same to be said for Kwame. Personally, that's why I think Biggie whooped Kwame's ass, but that's another subject. LOL Hey man, I respect your comments too. Obviously, we're 2 older bruhs who've been around hip hop for a minute. Who else can have an open dialog about BDK? LOL

WE LL HAVE TO AGREE TO DISAGREE. RESPECTFULLY.i never saw Kane cross over. or take anybodies persona. i saw them attempt to take his swagger, but smooth cool ridiculous flow was is and will always be kanes trademark. there was not catorgory for crossover back then because white people werent buying hiphop! kane was tryin to be like james brown his whole career. r&b and soul was in his music throughout his whole career.. but i respect your opinion.

He then tried to get his edge back when he came out with the album featuring the song "Stop Shammin". I'm a BIG Kane fan. I know bout my MC very well. Like I mentioned, when he "crossed", that when dudes like Kwame & Father MC embraced that persona. Kane took Father MC's image personal. Ask about it. When Kane was the "Raw Kane" MC's like Rakim was his adversary and Kool G Rap was his Juice Crew sidekick. Kane will always be in the Top 5. No doubt about it.

Nah, I'm beg to differ homey. None of Kane's albums could touch "Long Live the Kane." Well at least in my opinion. Even Kane's flows on the Mr Magic Show and later, on Marley Marl's "In Control Show" on WBLS in NYC, Kane had a better rhyme flow then he did when he got on the lover MC tip. I'm straight up from that era my brotha so I'm calling like it was. Not some Youtube shit. Kane was a premier BATTLE MC then. When he "crossed", he lost that edge. Ask about it.

ALL KANES ALBUMS ARE STRONG lyrically! kane was lightyears ahead of what you would call crossover! if u assumed they were commerical...you missed out! he was flowin on all his "pimp albums". he was one of those artist that stayed true to self when "you crossover fans" were changing what you listened to to...gangsta rap or drug selling hiphop. fans are funny but i advise you to listen to the albums you obviously didnt listen 2. cause kane got skillz in everyone of them joints.

And on the west you had the early ones like Ice Cube, The D.O.C., Ren and King Tee

I love KRS, but know way he can every compare to BDK lyrically. I consider Kane, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Chuck D, KRS-One, Guru, and Slick Rick the first "greats" (I also really like Ice-T, but c'mon). All of them brought so much creativity ad lyricism to the game, which was pretty wack before they came.

@h1ph0pjunk1e ~ I hear you but for an Icon like Kane, I would have expected him to keep it 100 on all his projects well after Long Live the Kane. His crossover was so devastating, when he dropped songs like Here Comes Scoop Scrap, How You Get a Record Deal and Stop Shammin', his image was tarnished. People like myself were so dissapointed that we didn't feel his gift like when he 1st came out. Like I said 2 yrs ago, by the time Kwame & Father MC came in, the seed was planted. Trust me.
