The two best guitarists in my opinion: Stuart Adamson and John McGeoch.. Of course there was much talent hammering on the door !

I'm getting old. I remember watching this on "Whistle Test" on the TV, 1986 I think. But why can't anyone produce such great music like this any more ?

No, nothing of the sort. They are not much of a band anymore, despite Mike Peters trying to do something with them. They clearly need SA's playing and songwriting. I think I count one great song and one so-so song in over a decade w/o SA?

Well you're entitled to your opinion, but it's an overly pessismistic one. Do you need a hug?

It's both him and his son on guitars, and no, it sounds nothing like Stuart Adamson on guitar. With Bruce it looks more like someone choking a dying animal. He has no flair for lead live. All the more amazing that Stuart was singing lead vocals too.

Can't help but feel you're doing Bruce a disservice there, since they've reformed Bruce has been lead guitarist so he can play the parts!

Bruce played simple repetitive parts. The thing I marvel at now is just how difficult it must have been for Stuart to do so much guitar and also the lead vocals.

most people here in amerikka have no idea how hard big country rocked and the quality of their musicianship-- here they are just associated with 'in a big country' of course....some bands are just too good to get the recognition they deserve, as unfortunately a majority of people seem to prefer crap....at least this stuff is here for us to enjoy

We talked and smoked all through the night You led me where I had no sight Till birdsong broke the morning light And I was weak with strange delight probably the best lines in a song ever

The lines of influence go: Skids (Stuart Adamson on guitar) to U2, while at the same time Stuart was forming Big Country. U2's commercial success had an effect on many 'big music' bands--BC, Armoury Show, Waterboys, the Alarm, and even Echo and the Bunnymen. But that was mostly with big label A&R.
