"This track features the first ever electric guitar on a commercial recording" No, commercial recordings of electric guitar (not steel) during 1937 include Zeke Campbell with the Light Crust Doughboys, Eddie Durham with Count Basie, and Bob Symons with the Nite Owls. The Gibson ES-150 was introduced in 1936.

I think you will find that George's contribution was on bass.

I saw George Barnes and Carl Kress at Town Hall NYC in 1963. I was 11 years old. You know George is listed on Dylan's Freewheelin's Don't think twice it's all right. Which is strange since it really just sounds like one guitar and vocal.

This track features the first ever electric guitar on a commercial recording played by jazz guitarist George Barnes. The track was recorded on March 1, 1938. "Sweetheart Land" was also recorded at this session. These were landmark recordings, introducing the electric guitar to popular music. George Barnes would continue to record with Carl Kress, Joe Venuti, and another recording session with Big Bill Broonzy.
