To me this song this song could be interpreted to be about having been "at the bottom" for so long in a dark place in your life and finally getting out and into the light not knowing how she "made it here." Kind of like looking back on the pain and not being able to comprehend how you got out of it.

"i think this is not a religious song." YOU think...how can you be so pretentious as to tell us what to think this song is about? And then have the nerve to show your frustration at the end of your shallow comment? Personal experiences, knowledge, state of mind, etc is what makes a song "talk" to us on a personal level. This song could be religious to some, uplifting, conquering, sad, motivational, tolerating, etc, etc to many others. PEACE AND LOVE? May want to add tolerance to your tag name.

Like any good song, it has the meaning the artist intended, while remaining open to the interpretations of those who hear it. It is one of those songs that can fit almost ANY person's inner struggles, and hold the light for them to find their way out. My brother called this song "uplifting", for me it was exactly the opposite when I first heard it, but now I can see his point.

I think it is about her struggle with addiction and yes, heaven and hell play into her song and there is no way around that if you read the lyrics. It is her prayer in a song for forgiveness and help from an overwhelming addiction that she hates, but knows without a miracle she won't make it..... I know, I have been there in my own addiction of an eating disorder for years and miracles do happen because by the grace of God.... though I should be dead, I am living and it is far behind me now.
