Best version ever performed!

Ted Christopher - vocals

Mark Knopfler - guitar

This version was recorded in memory of the Dunblane Massacre 13 March 1996, were 16 children and one adult got killed.

A new verse was written, and the children choir who sing the chorus are brothers and sisters of the victims.

The song was released 9 December 1996, and it reached number 1. The proceeds went to charities for children.

Enjoy!

New verse;

Lord these guns have caused too much pain

This town will never be the same

So for the bairns of Dunblane

We ask please never again

Every time I hear Bob sing this it is new . Every time I hear Bob Dylan sing his songs live its like the first time I heard them..Maybe thats why he is Bob Dylan ...I don't know .

How involved version, lyrics and music !!I I enjoy it so much and would understand the lyrics added, that seems very important. There is not only one but two new verses. After the one given, I can't transcript completely the second : I'm not fluent english enough ;-( If somebody would help, it would be great !!

One of the great classics, played with immense feeling. Beautiful. This was played at my younger brother's funeral by one of his close friends, so has much sentimental meaning to me too. "The Lord is my shepherd that I shall not want..." - Peace to all YouTubers and your loved ones.

Probably the most heartfelt version of this song. I do like the soaring guitar solos from Guns n Roses version also. But really it's such a good song even Dylan's understated version sounded fine.
