I came to Bel quite late as an albums artist (I'm very picky and only a handful can do) but I've only found one of her songs horrible ('Love Never Dies), and that's from an album everyone professes to love. It was a slow burner, but this totally-at-odds with her usual signature sound is a rewarding listen, and offensive only 2 singles seemed to come from it, but I'm almost sure 'Too Much Water' was the planned 3rd single-there's a reworked edited version of it on the deluxe version of "Real", plus Bel mentioned it as the song she was most impressed with on the attendant DVD interview about the album. I love 'Lay Down Your Arms' but also the confessional, eerie 'Tell Me'-one of her longest ever songs and it's wicked. As album openers always come first with her, it's weird this song didn't all, giving impression it's below her usual hit standard, it isn't. In fact I would have carried on the tradition, choosing this over 'Big Scary Animal'. 'One With You' and, particularly 'Where Love Hides' are also truly impressive, 'Wrap Your Arms' well catchy, 'Too Much Water' even better in its album version, and 'Change' is a gorgeous b-side left off the album/ Cool all round, Bel, the last two on the album aren't so catchy, but still work, and that's more than you can say about the icky Diane Warren written 'World Without You' and awful, hateful 'Love Never Dies' (though I'd never disown 'World Without You). See, pretty good fan me. And she's gone back to being veggie again. Kudos, Bel.
