John Cooper Clarke is one of the greatest live poets I've seen. He's witty and sharp; true like an arrow as he sums up the best and worst of people and in particular, the hideousness of social discombobulation. I don't think he would exist of the current generation; his references owe so much to commentators of past decades (e.g.: George Orwell). And even though his view is particularly English, he is highly regarded among many in Australia as they have seen in the past and more potently in the present, the rot and decay of corruption and greed by individuals and institutions such as the churches and banks. If only he could be cloned and exist in every country to call unleash the hounds upon those who deserve his savaging...

Great song. Beasley St, Gorton - where Myra Hindley grew up. JCC claims coincidence. Whatever, it may have been like this.
