EVERYTIME I hear Nelson's 1st solo I break out laughing w/ tears of joy at how amazing it is, talk about a man at the top of his game!!!But lets not forget Andy Clark's beautiful change of pace solo that sets up the last statements so well... it is stately, restrained and builds a smouldering head of steam.

Some lucky sound engineer probably has the out takes. Have LPs, still.

After all these years, still one of my favorite guitar solos ever! Such a beautiful combination of melody and chops by Mr. Nelson. And what a great sound! If you love this one, you'll probably also enjoy Eric Johnson's solos on "Minstrel Gigolo" on Christopher Cross' first album. Another brilliant mix of melody, chops and tone.

Don't know why I was suddenly nostalgic for Bebop Deluxe, but hell, what a song. Not only a truly inspiring guitar solo, but that keyboard break, around 5.00. And then the convo between keyboard, guitar and gruntin' bass. Where do we get music like this nowadays?

Donincal You can find "Shine" on yt if you search Bill Nelson...just been listening to it (not the version off "L I T A" , but a more aggressive version...still brilliant tho')

This is a great song! Thank you for posting. If I'm not mistaken that's from live in the air age album. When I bought it there was only vinyl. There were two lp's and they did a song called shine. If someone could post that I'd be in heaven. Thanks again for this. Don

Finally the so called leading guitarists are coming out of the closet and admitting how in awe they were of Bill, for example in a recent interview Paul Gilbert talks of his days listening to Bill and Randy Rhode’s mother stated that Randy was a huge admirer. I am a fusion guitar nut but Bill is peerless and can hold his own and better most of the so called fusion greats. In fact I know a number of fusion fans who hold Bill up as the one. What a sound! Now Bill and Jeff Beck together ....??!!

You, I, and about a thousand people I know have said that. Saw them at the old Academy of Music on 2/14/78, and went home that night and learned the minor 9th arpeggio. We had all been weaned on Clapton and Hendrix, but Nelson was as captivating as all of them.

Clapton, Page, Beck, Vai, Van Halen and all the rest hear Bill Nelson and just shake their heads and wish they could play like him. Most underrated band of all time. Period.
