I think that when Cornell wrote the vocal lines to the songs of the Audioslave album and sang the stuff in the studio, he sang them way too aggressive and heavy, with many high A and B notes (9 from 14 songs are in that range) and then it was impossible to reproduce them all with that amount of aggressivness in one live concert without going hoarse or push too hard and get tired faster. And cigarettes didnt help either. But what do I know, his voice is so inhumanly strong that he could last throughout the concert singing all these hard vocal melodies...

@35TCK Yeah, it's weird though, because if I recall correctly, he was smoking on the DVD that was included with Revelations. Oh well, his voice has recovered amazingly over the last few years.

@DDpowerfunk lol. No he smoked quite a bit and drank quite a bit. I've read it in many interviews and saw him smoking in a couple of videos. Its one of the things he said he quit when he had his second child. Look at the Out of Exile EPK
