Let's clear out what an avant-garde is-regarding to music- and then we can talk if Atrox is or not an avant-garde metal. If you ask me, I would say that this music is progressive, but not progressive like Opeth or Tool, or the like. They sound a bit theatrical to me, hence I would say Avant-garde instead of progressive, extreme, operatic, neo metal or other bs.

I don't understand what is "avant garde" about this. I'm hearing a lot of generic chugging and syncopation, along with some psuedo-operatic vocals and bit of keyboard. It's not bad, but it is nothing more than mildly unconventional; certainly not experimental enough to be considered "avant garde."
