Invaluable, revelatory archive material. Amazing to see a live version of this after loving the album track for 44 years.

If this is August 1970, I'm amazed that someone calling himself progjazzfusion should say that ELP had been around for a year at this point when in fact Carl Palmer left Rooster in June 1970 to form ELP, their first show being the Isle of Wight festival in August that year. Also, the Nice were a completely separate band in their own right having emerged as PP Arnold's backing band to become a huge crowd puller even getting themselves banned from the Royal Albert Hall for burning the Stars and Stripes...I saw Rooster with carl Palmer twice in early 70. Great live band.

The rig on top of the organ looks like a bad shock waiting to happen. Also dig the pickguard.

but ELP had already been around a year before this. Also the real embryonic ELP was called The Nice, with emerson, guitar, bass, drums, etc. But generally speaking there were many late 60s organ based progressive psych heavy jam type groups like this. Check out early crazy world of arthur brown from 68 which is where both this atomic rooster organist came out of, as well as ELP drummer carl palmer. Also for a heavy jazz take on this style, check out The Soft Machine from approx 68-71

Awesome! Thanks for posting this zenith100. 1970-1 seems to be the year when drummers wore those Wizard stars and moons shirts. I've seen a Black Sabbath video from the same year where Bill Ward had the same shirt, and I think I've seen a Who video from this period where Keith Moon was wearing a similar shirt. Also, great artwork on the guitar.
