К моменту записи третьего альбома Atomic Rooster, в состав группы вошел отличный вокалист Пит Френч (ех Leaf Hound). На In Hearing Of Atomic Rooster (1971) в отличии от предыдущего альбома, мирно уживались добротный прогрессив и хард-рок. Именно эту работу многие поклонники считают вершиной творчества Atomic Rooster...

Thanks for sharing this classic - first heard it live in 71/72 [ i think they opened the set with it ?? ] and still recall the effect of that killer piano riff that keeps cropping up - wow :-)

To B3 bURNER:: When punk and new wave came along,my ears were opened or,rather, reopened to the true spirit of rock and roll, something that was becoming,I think, kind of lost. The whole prog rock thing,I think, began taking itself far too seriously. Sure, everything is spot on musically(most of those guys played great) but the sentiments and the loftiness don't hit me anymore. Lyrically,it often sounds like a high school kid's idea of good poetry. Most of it is good background music to me now when I'm cleaning my apartment. Brings back fond memories of being 14. There are,I think, some exceptions, some of the old King Crimson. I still have ELP'S Tarkus but---and this is crucial---I don't take it seriously anymore(It is---come on now--a silly concept lp. Been listening to Eno's Here Come The Warm Jets and it is above the prog rock thing---miles above it. Not sure why to my ears. It just is. I would think he hates being linked to prog rock. I've been listening to mostly alt for a few decades, from the 80s to now. Today's music? I like Metric,Interpol,QOTSA,The Killers,Black Mountain,White Stripes,etc.. There is good music being made today. I'm with you on Maroon 5 and most music wildly popular today. There is always a middle ground. You just don't seem interested in it or care where to find it.Some old stuff is still good, but there is good stuff being made today too,the best of which follows that spirit of late 70s and 80s alt. At least I think it does. I'm trying to be diplomatic(It is good piano playing;never said it wasn't).

It was a time the music was written not slammed together like it is today & also a time where the bands changed their names a good bit like Eric Clapton

I'm curious, what in your opinion makes this pretentious, silly, and pompous? I myself think this genre of music is great and I'm only too sorry bands today don't still play like this. I'll take this over Adam Levine and Maroon 5 anyday.

I agree, my bass player at the time kept asking me if I'd heard the latest Atomic Rooster or King Crimson and I said no. Went out and bought both the next day, I couldn't believe King Crimson. I could not play it although I was classicaly trained. No one in my city would attempt any of it.
