If you hear this next to Sam Cooke's "Yeah Man", you'll realize how rare this is: an imitation that beats the original. "Yeah Man" was a sketch; "Sweet Soul Music" is a wall-high, fully-rendered masterpiece.

Syd Harewood is absolutely right! According to the date of June 23, 1967, Arthur Conley's "Sweet Soul Music" went gold. Arthur Conley had little successes after "Sweet Soul Music". It was co-written by Arthur Conley and the late great Otis Redding. Released on Atco Records back in 1967.
