Just discovered a gorgeous live version, by Nick Lowe, from 1995. Can't find it on YouTube, but it can be downloaded from the "Untouched Takeaways" digital album.

I think it just may be my favorite of all his great songs.

This might be his best vocal performance. His voice is still in its prime. It has an unusual confidence and kinda sensuality in the delivery. He never sang as good as any of his peers: Otis, Sam, Rudy Lewis; Ben E. King. He wasn't in their class on pure vocal chops. His strongest card was his startling directness. He could also write a damn honest song and connect with the material like nobody's business. But his pure vocals are pretty brilliant here - beautiful sounding and emotional. Great.

There was a single release of this song as "Hey There Dreamboy", by Kathy Young (of "A Thousand Stars" fame) on the Monogram label...a minor chart hit, circa September or October of 1962.

This guy rocks! Just tell the betales that! Between recorded album cuts, bbc sessions and pre signed to a label hamburg days i think the fab 4 covered at least 6 or 7 of his tunes! most notably Anna and Soldier of love however the gem i love is their cover of Where have you been all my life found only on a very harsh recorded bootleg from the star club in germany 1961. this guy is awesome A>alexander rules!
