"Waters of March" is a bossa nova song composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim. The song lyrics were originally written in Portuguese and Jobim wrote the English version as well.

Here is this song as sung by Art Garfunkel on his solo album "Breakaway" (1975).

This song has been plagiarized, interpreted, and stolen, like, a thousand times, but few are as wonderful as Art Garfunkel's version.

Somehow, this version really foreshadows alternative. This could be great alt rock, what with the words and music. I don't know, maybe it's already been done. But this was 1975, just shows the versatility of Art.

Bossacucanova English version is much better. Or Portuguese, this one not so much.

This song originally had a lilting playfulness to it, one that might belie the direction of the lyrics' commentary on the cycle of life; but Garfunkle's plodding cadence actually brings an appropriate touch of melancholy; and whoever put this video together did a great job of visuals matching the sadness along with, not despair, but rather joy and celebration of all the beauty - and pain - of even mundane things usually ignored that are to be experienced in this fleeting thing called life.

Every version comes from the artistry of each other and there will be always a matter of taste, always. I love the Jobim's rendition but a lot of other ones too. Peace and music forever and the world will be one.

A little less romantic in English, but that's usually the case anyway. XD Still nice though.
