Gotta love Merman! She couldn't sing. She couldn't dance. She wasn't pretty, BUT -- she was a fuckin' ORIGINAL. An American Institution. Nothin' like her before -- or since. She had PIZAZZ. And if the likes of Cole Porter -- an authentic genius -- loved her, we know DAMNED WELL she was good.

You can buy the whole show on a bare-bones but highly entertaining dvd. The casting is off, clearly the cast wasn't rehearsed enough, but the music and La Merman shine through! It's fun to see SInatra so out of his wheelhouse.

1933 is a year before Anything Goes premiered on Broadway. Plus, TV wasn't around that much in 1933, and if this is from the Colgate Comedy Hour, then that show appeared 1950-55, at least according to Wikipedia, the made up encyclopedia. I guess I should have thought to look up the show on my own.
