La británica Anne Shelton no dejó esta hermosa canción romántica e inocente de encuentros y milagros, de sueños y despertares en Londres, A Nightingale sang in Berkeley Square. That certain night, the night we met / There was magic abroad in the air / There were angels dining at the Ritz / And a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square... still remember how you smiled and said / "Was that a dream? Or was it true?" Disfrútalo!

Anne from a young age just had a natural understanding of popular music, of singing a song as i was written, of bringing the story of every song to real life. Technically, she was perfection. She also happened to be very beautiful. Yes, here she is--amazingly--16. She was the favorite singer of many other favorite singers, unsurprisingly.

Yes, this one is with Bert Ambrose. Incredibly, she was only 16 at the time. Her real name was Pat Sibley. If you can think of a more natural, heartwarming British female singer of the nostalgic dance band war years (with the possible exception of Vera Lynn), then please let me know. I'm a grandad too.

The record cover in the video does say "I'll never mile again" and the Wally Stott band is listed on it at the bottom.

Anne Shelton has been a great discovery. As a classically trained singer I appreciate her artistry. She had soul in her voice too and was a versatile artist. And I love the British dance band sound!

Oh right!. I actually prefer Anne Shelton's voice to the other forces sweetheart. Her version of A nightingale sang in B square is the best I've ever heard. I'm surprised she never made it in the US, but I suppose you had to be there to do it in those days, like Ray Noble.Anne was a very clever singer, with a remarkable range.

It most likely is Ambrose although she did record it with the Wally Stott Orchestra.
