Anna Moffo (1932-2006) Born in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Moffo was an Italian-American lyric-coloratura soprano admired for her warm, radiant voice and her beautiful stage presence. Here she sings the famous 'Un bel di vedremo' from Puccini's Madama Butterfly.

In a general way she is absolutely lovely and I endorse the positive comments below BUT by the highest standards, her first note is disappointingly insecure. In the light of her later decline, we can suspect a weakness of technique which is largely hidden by her youth at this stage. .

I agree! I've loved many others' performance of this aria, but yes, I do believe that Ms. Moffo is the greatest, most perfect, most breathtakingly beautiful Butterfly!!! Is there a greater thrill than closing one's eyes and listening to Moffo's Butterfly? I think not.

She has to be my favorite...I don't think any other soprano has her clarity or control. Invariably, listening to all the choices on any aria, I pick her as my favorite. Thank you for posting this.

Thanks for posting this, especially in stereo! Anna Moffo was a gift to the world of opera, and this recording brings back fond memories of this lovely, talented, vocal artist. I will always remember her Violetta and Mimi at the Met.
