I cannot believe these critics who called Amy's music "shallow". I like this song... it packs a powerful punch and tells it like it is. It's like a heartfelt prayer to God to lead us where "the river runs into His keeping" and trusting in Him for His deliverance and comfort and peace in the midst of the storms of life. This song has a great message; I think more need to hear it.

What a profoundly moving; but also truly disturbing song. Slavery and Nazism. The gates of hell are always monstrously cruel. The Lord Jesus Christ is the rock of our salvation.

What a great and powerful song. Has been on my "favorites" list since the first time I heard it. Good music stays with you no matter how many years pass!

Wow. Powerful performance. This song never fails to give me chills (and this is coming from someone non-religious).

I am a Christian and I still struggle with a multitude of sin. I do not say the things I should and I do not do the things I should. But God's grace amazes me, I do not deserve it, but yet God has chosen to forgiven!! God always leads me back to Him. In the dark, in the struggles, God is there!

There you go again! Full of yourself, but devoid of God's Word, substituting your own worldly, carnal opinion for God's Word. (2Tim4:3, Heb10:26-27, Matt10:37, Heb6:4-6, 1Cor6:9, 1John5:16) No wonder you are so ready, willing and able to substitute for God's Word with your own paraphrases of Martin Luther. Count me out! (1John3:4-9)

It's even more sinful to believe that one's own feeble machinations are needed to supplement the Holy Ghost's efforts. As if He needed our feeble help. Turn to Christ and depart from iniquity, yes - BUT - let repentance come not from our own struggles, but as a grace from Christ freely received through prayer, regular confession, and growth in Him. He will turn our lives around, as we cannot.

I think Amy Grant is great and has been blessed by God to bring us good music. Not all of us are perfect, as there is always a second chances. Amy Grant is the reason I love listening to contemporary christian music today. But she earns her money the honest way, than working in bars or being a prostitute.

Ah but, Jim, perhaps if you didn't love your sin more than you love God, you'd not only realize that Martin Luther was not God, but also you'd neither paraphrase him nor misinterpret him to justify the sin that condemns you. You need to REPENT and to hear and heed God's Word (1John3:4-9). It is the sin of satan to think you can replace God with yourself. How much safer do you think you will be if you replace God with anyone else, whether that be madman muhammad, Joseph Smith, or any other human?
