I heard the version by Babara Streisand for the first time this past Christmas and it made me cry. Miss Grant's version is lovely, Streisand will break your heart. The beauty of the song is that it simply states that the world could be a place for all without hatred, bigotry, sadness and loneliness. It's all this "my God is better than yours" idiocy that has brought man to spill more of his fellow man's blood than any other reason. This to me is made even more pointed by the fact that one of the most beautiful Christmas songs ever written was so perfectly performed by a Jew.

I love this song, and I love most of the versions I've heard, but I must commend Amy for standing so close to a burning candle while "singing" for this video. Have you ever stood close to a burning candle and tried to breathe, much less sing without blowing it out? It's not fun or easy.Merry Christmas 2014, everyone!
