For this amp shootout I used guitar tracks downloaded from the Ultimate Metal forum. The were posted by user 'Incarnated'.

For settings I used all the amps with the knobs on 12 o'clock. The guitars were then recorded with a redbox into Pro Tools, then I loaded an Impulse in stead of using a real cab. since I didn't want to disturb the neighbors at this late hour. All guitar tracks are unprocessed.

The first track is the Bugera, second is the Engl and the last one is the Peavey.

Bugera for all around "good". I didn't care for the Engl, it sounded to dead. The Peavey was awesome for the rhythms, but the leads weren't as defined as the Bugera.

Engl sound artificial to my ears. 5150 is good in rythm, i didn't like the solos. Bugera was balanced but nothing special to mention.

In this test the 5150 has so much more character to the sound and really stands out more. Cuts through and sits well in the mix. That being said, I just ordered a new Bugera 333 212 to complement my 6505+. It will be interesting to hear how they interact live and on recordings

I hear nothing but overwhelmed muffled muddy low end in the Engl and I know it wouldn't sound so subpar if there was added mids and highend..

I am a big Engl man, but in fact I'm really disappointed with Engl in this video. Bugera all the way

Would of been nice to see the Bugera 6260 against this 5150, since thats what its modeled after.. Still a nice comparison, thank you! The Engl is best imo, but they are basically the most expensive of these 3. The Bugera is great bang for the buck as mentioned and would still like to own a 333XL Infinium head too. The 5150 sounds awesome also and I think it can be had used for cheaper than a used Engl. Personally I want a Engl Ironball right now for my new awesome "lunchbox" home/small gig amp. You have to listen to these over and over a few times before it all becomes clear which one is the winner for you. Like said its all a matter of taste and money.

ENGL all the way destroys both amps, matter of fact ENGL destroys every amp, and axe fx and kemper

don't know what you did to your savage here. it is many things, but not muddy. maybe it doesn't work well with the redbox. it sounds very flubby here, but i can assure that it doesn't in person, and it does neither when recorded with a mic
