I read that same explanation on Sonata Arctica's DVD, the crowd was basically dead but someone commented that's their way of enjoying the music.

It depends on the person I suppose. I don't like pushing and shoving through all of the songs for sure but still this seemed a bit too static to me.

I don't know about you, but when I go to see a band I am there to hear what they have to express. Going crazy in the crowd and moshing everywhere doesn't let me actually watch them. I know when I play onstage I like it more when people are paying full attention to us and the music we play. Moshing is fun an all, but it's all about the people doing the moshing, not the band playing. I think people from Finland respect the band enough to watch, that's how I watch, and I'm from the USA.

It's too bad you can't appreciate the direction they are taking. To me, it seems like a more sophisticated, thoughtful approach to their music. They sure know how to write melodies and intricate song structures. I think they just keep getting better with every release. Silent Waters through their newest are my favorite cd's they have released, with Tuonela not far behind. I'm all for good Death metal, but I think Melodic Death has more to offer; you can express a broader range of emotions.

Sempre tem um pagodeiro pra não gostar. Esta é uma das melhores cações desta banda. Dieses Lied ist wunderbar! Wonderful.

@luizgm1972 Well, I understand why you're so disappointed. Anyway, the new style of their music ("more compelling to a wider audience", as you rightly said) is still great, better than all those fucking American metalcore bands, although now Tomi has to carry dead mermaids here and there in order to please Tv audience, lol! (kidding). Anyway, we still have the previous albums. I love the smashing song "To Father's Cabin", and I discovered it just because of "You I Need".

@metallights Agree, but still sucks that Amorphis left the experimentation with the doom/death/folk sound they once had and moved to a sound that is more compelling to a wider audience. This is dissapointing for the ones that discovered Amorphis back in the early 90s and that expected an evolution in the same original style. But hey, they are grown ups now and they have to pay bills; the underground does not pay well.

@luizgm1972 Even though Amorphis turned into a Melodic Deathmetal band, they still are great Metal band, while many American metalcore bands don't even know what Metal is.
