If the only the Pie had the production quality of Zepplin or Floyd who knows where rock would be.....

So hard to believe that something this awesome and kick-ass would have been released in 1981, with a note on the back of the record jacket that reads "This record should be played at loud volume," I love the early to mid 70's feel that it has. Top notch!! Crank this shit up, dammit!! PLAY IT TWICE, TOO NICE!!!! Groovy, far out, dy-no-mite, etc., etc., etc. Crank the damn shit up!!! Let 'er rip!! Whatcha waitin' for?!?!

yeah theres a live version of something called 'Valentine suite' i think with Colosseum that's awesome. Frampton really did make a difference-and i got a whole new perspective of him watching a documentary on here.on Marriott-i'll check out Bakerloo and rope ladder- i love the Small Faces too.Ronnie Lane wrote some great songs.

Thank you. I understand re: Clempson - the band at that point (with Frampton's departure) had become Marriott's. And with Clempson's more aggressive (and less melodic) approach to guitar (Frampton was more jazz influenced, Clempson more from the blues) it took on a tougher, rougher edge. But it did lose its diversity and that - and drugs - were its death. Re: Clempson: check out his early band, Bakerloo. (Try YT). Or Colosseum (try some of the early live stuff...'Rope Ladder to the Moon' on YT).

im all happy and in awe from lots of the newer generation liking this kinda music nowdays, guess all that bitching about rap was for nothing or paid off, either way its all good now. just proves REAL music is timeless.

The Pie never got their just rewards. I preferred them with Peter Frampton in the line-up. (It was his band; Marriott joined after quitting the Small Faces.) The Pie went through various styles, from the acoustic so prevalent on their first two albums (also had some great Small Faces-style rock) to the wonderful 'Humble Pie' and 'Rock On' albums. But if you like this track, get 'Rockin' the Fillmore'... very riffy. And check into the Jeff Beck Group's version of this tune and 'Jailhouse Rock'.

well, i was in the Grande Ballroom in '69 watching Steve and Company wreak havoc on Stone Cold Fever straight into Big George..when Big hit on one, Jeff Beck came a-flying from the wings with Rod Stewart and it was Wacko Night..acid everywhere
