What's it all about, Alfie?

Is it just for the moment we live?

What's it all about when you sort it out, Alfie?

Are we meant to take more than we give

or are we meant to be kind?

And if only fools are kind, Alfie,

then I guess it's wise to be cruel.

And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie,

what will you lend on an old golden rule?

As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, Alfie,

I know there's something much more,

something even non-believers can believe in.

I believe in love, Alfie.

Without true love we just exist, Alfie.

Until you find the love you've missed you're nothing, Alfie.

When you walk let your heart lead the way

and you'll find love any day, Alfie, Alfie.

I love the little dog in the beginning. He looks like an Alfie. :)

We are listening to Cher. (I had no doubt!)Alfie was first made in 1966 and remade in 2004. In 1966, Cilla Black sang "Alfie" in the UK version and Cher performed it in the US release. Joss Stone sang it in the 2004 remake. (I looked this up on Wikipedia). It's one of my favorite songs.

We morons who have just read the credits as they roll and it says Cher. It is Cher...the intonation, style, everything about it says it's Cher. Why do you think it says Cher on the credits?

While there may be others who can do this song more vocal justice, Cher's is absolutely perfect to end this movie.

Funny, perhaps they were not sure if a man or woman should sing this so they picked Cher. Not entirely facetious as her voice is a mid-range contralto..

I once rented the movie mainly to hear the Cher ending - thankfully it was there, but it's great to hear it again. Thanks for sharing.

This IS Cher singing and this IS a great version of this song. Her voice, at this stage in her life, is just what was needed for the end credits of this movie. I give credit to all the great singers who have recorded this song and to Burt Bacharach for writing it. The arrangement is spot on. We should all try to listen to the music without personal prejudice. I personally don't care for Dionne Warwick's voice, but absolutely give her credit for being an iconic singer who produced a wonderful body of work, beloved by her fans. Any reason we all can't leave things at that?

The simple girl asks the enduring question at the end, "What's it all about Alfie?" Is the answer the asker?

Cher sings the original version of this song! Cher's version is better than Dione & Cilla! :3

Cher sings this version and although I like Dionne's version I love Cilla Blacks version the best.

Yes, Cher sings on the soundtrack for the U.S. film release, and only at the end. The song, originally recorded by Cilla Black, had not been written as part of the soundtrack, but only to promote the film. I saw the film in England, and the song did not appear on the soundtrack.

The singer is Cher. Listed (and shown) in the credits. Her voice is recognizable, but without her later mannerisms.
