Many years ago on TV we had variety shows that were all about the acts, class acts like this. There are no fireworks or special effects, here to make it interesting, only his talent. Would it be a good idea to return to these traditional shows with accomplished performers? and not the usual 'celebs' they wheel out.

Normally I would turn up my roots rock nose at such softness but this song simply has IT, whatever it may be. Lovely material. Sinatra could have nailed this on In The Wee Small Hours had it been written back then. Full marks, Alan.

This (for me) is pure class - the days when a singer-songwriter was actually appreciated for wearing an immaculate tux/tie, elegant hair, clear diction, keyboard talent, chordal/harmonic smoothness, great love song.... sheesh, wtf happened to music/entertainment? This played on the radio during my high-school years... very evocative, simple, accessible yet evocative.
