Al Jarrea defined jazz, latin, and the CTI sound that emerged in the 70's,80's with always a light heart and beautiful chord changes and lyrics.  The way was paved by Lambert, Hendrix, and Ross but expressed more rhythmically in a way that smooth jazz (not to disparage the great talent there) just didn't kick ash eavy with.  Steve Gadd probably had a lot to do with it.  Al was a heavy hitter( and still is).  Thanks Al
