To me, they're two different bands/styles, in a sense, and they're both awesome. I read an interview with Davey somewhere when DECEMBERUNDERGROUND came out that pretty much just said "I hope people don't judge us on this new record by our old music, because we a lot of time to suck." or something like that. While I don't necessarily agree, I find both sounds fucking rad. The newer, more refined alternative sound (though Burials returns to a faster style) and the older punk sound both alike.

Not really, no. You're wrong. Also, you have no real understanding of 'emo'. Art of Drowning is closer to emo than their new music. If you were smart, which you aren't, you would have identified new AFI as simply pop/rock, which it is. Emo is a part of the hardcore genre, which is where AFI also came from. New AFI is pop/rock/electronic. Depeche Mode influenced. There's no emo, or hardcore, left in AFI. Now, go be dumb somewhere else, Fred Durst.

I always tell those people (In real life, it'd be too exhausting to tell everyone on youtube) that they didn't grow complacent, that's all. As beautiful as Art of Drowning, and Black Sails, and (In my opinion) all of their albums were, they were one of a kind. They can't create another one like AOD because it's one of a kind. I mean why would anyone WANT such a talented group to not flex their creative muscles? Seems crazy to me. Anyway, most new AFI haters are just sheep following others.

i do that every morning and night, but she is not like me .. im 19, she is 10 and she likes commercial music :| that type of shit that kills music and brain wash kids nowadays .. i tryed to show her not punk or hard rock, but my country's or other nation's classic rock, alternative maybe even commercial rock, jazz/blues/soul to make her rebel a little .. and then find out by herself the good music .. but its all in vain :)
