Wouldn't it be great

To see the african plains

Before they lay them to waste

And only the bones remain

Wouldn't it be poetry

To shoot holes in the poachers we see

With an elephant gun

Men in helicopters fly

Shooting rhinos from out of the sky

Why do we always assume

The planet is ours to ruin?

What a legacy we're leaving behind

What a legacy

Wouldn't it be something

For the men killing dolphin

To be caught up by their necks

In their greedy fishing nets

Wouldn't it be irony

If the tuna fish canneries

Were to fall into the sea

The dolphins and the whales still left alive

Cry to the stars in the deep blue night

"there's nowhere to hide,

The people on earth will not be denied"

What a legacy we're leaving behind

What a legacy

Wouldn't it be odd

If there really was a god

And he looked down on earth

And saw what we've done to her

Wouldn't it be just

If he pulled the plug on us,

And took away the sun - uploaded via http://www.mp32u.net/

It's pretty bizarre to want to kill exotic animals, all the movements going on today, I'm surprised Adrian isn't held up with more respect from the general public.

One of the most thoughtful songs of all history. IMHO there are two lyrics i would change, which to my heart amplifies this powerful song just a bit more.1)"Why do we always assume / the planet is ours to ruin" i'd suggest a rhyme of: "What are we doin'? The planet's not ours to ruin", 2)"The dolphins and the whales still left aliveCry to the stars in the deep blue night",i think it should be"The dolphins and whales still left alive / Grow to an old age, and naturally die".

Something about the chords and the recording itself (half muffled, half cosmically soaring), plus his ultra-urgent vocal performance and the usual dolphin guitar stuff...........I'm almost crying talking about it. Few songs do that to me, but this is one of 'em

sort of thematically similar to YES' "Don't Kill The Whale", from the enigmatic Tormato album

HOLY CANOLIS Just listen to the song enjoy what is here to hear and think...it says it all WHAT A LEGACY WE'RE LEAVING BEHIND,,IF there is a legacy to be left if people want to argue about it...Its simple really not so complexed,,but I am sure there may be someone whom will argue what I wrote here, you know what have fun,,,me I will just listen and enjoy the music and do what part I can,,,,better then arguing about theories or what not...leave that to the ignorant okay...:)

@Dondo1911 Actually, most people are decent enough when not put under inhumane pressures, which they often are, but the greedheads that profit from the ruination of us all won't stop until we stop them, and so far, the best hope (the occupy movement), has a long way to go to reverse the evil still underway.

@BruceH59 Where did you get your "facts"-Sarah Palin, or did you just make them up yourself? And how do they support your insult of Belew, and your ridiculous assertion that he's "selling the fairy tale that man doesn't belong here". You called him a moron, and then demonstrated a nonsensical interpretation of his song, which made you look like the moron, as does your absurd diatribe against "scum of the earth nonprofits".

@BruceH59 You missed the point entirely-Adrian wasn't saying we don't belong here-he's just pissed, like every decent person with common sense is, about the planet being destroyed by greedy assholes. If you think we belong here, you damn well ought to be concerned that this century will see the death of our species, by our own hands, if the current destructive activities done for profit continue.

I like how a song about shooting Rhinos from a helicopter used a picture of a Rhino that was extinct thousands of years before man learned to fly...
