not putting words into the mouth, and i said in most cases when people say black pride they dont mean it to be above. and im not saying that white people always mean it either. allllls im sayin is this: black pride is more associated with trying to be equal, and white pride was pretty much originally from nazi types and existed BEFORE black pride was allowed to be said. now while thats not always true about how a person intends it, i personally would not want to use a term associated with hate.

When you say that saying one is proud to be white is carrying a connotation that "white" is better, it seems to be putting words into the mouth of the person who used the phrase. One cannot be certain what reasons any given person may say what they say. A black person could just as easily say "black power or black pride" with the intent that black is better than white. It's all just words, the true intent of the words is specific to the individuals reasons for saying what they say.

because Black could be interchanged with African American and plus because people throw around "white" so freely instead of being more ethnicity-specific, Black-empowering phrases usually aren't intended to indicate that a black person is better because of their race but rather it's used in an attempt to gain equality. white pride carries the connotation that "white" is "better" based on skin colour alone.

i had this discussion with someone not long ago. its different if someone says "im proud to be irish" or "im proud to be italian" than just saying white. when i put it like that they said it made sense. because white doesnt denote lineage, it denotes skin colour.
