Maybe the time signature is actually just 1/4 and every beat is a whole measure??? Ever think of that??? O_O

Guise, when subdividing time signatures it's all about accenting. For instance, 14/4 could just be two bars of 7/4 but it might be accented as a bar of 5/4 then a bar of 2/4 repeated or a bar of 3/4 followed by a bar of 4/4 and then repeated. And, if you wanna get funky, 1 bar of 3/4 one bar of 4/4 one bar of 5/4 and then a bar of 2/4. But, in reality, who the fuck cares?

You know that song that has like 10 opportunities to end but doesn't end? It's like this one, with the exception that you don't want it to end.

Counting time is subjective. I know some people would rather count many small pieces instead of one large piece, but strictly speaking, if it takes 12 quarter notes for a part to repeat, then it is in 12/4. Not only is it technically correct, but I also find it easier to count each part as one measure. For it's easy to get lost when you're trying to keep track of a stream of arbitrarily divided subsections. And yes, big numbers bring me great pleasure. If you know what i mean... *wink wink*

12/4 is just 3 bars of 4/4. 16/4 is just 4 bars of 4/4. Good job on the 6/4 bit. The "14/4" bit is actually just 2 bars of 7/4. What's the point of making enormously long measures when it subdivides perfectly fine? You're actually allowed to write in frequent time signature changes to make things easier to read and understand. I think you just like to think it's more complicated than it actually is to make yourself feel superior.

Do you know what a time signature is?

Robert Hunter

None of what you wrote makes any sense.

Sorry, but just because a time signature is divisible by 4 doesn't make it 4/4. The intro is really 12/4 (that also goes for the16/4 part and 6/4 part). Plus you completely missed the 14/4 part around 30 seconds in. Also, depending on how loose your definition of a part is, the song is actually in 26. So yeah, it actually is a little bit complex.

Also the break part near the end is in 5/8.

This song is primarily in 4/4 with alternating 3/4 and increasing the accent to 6/8 every so often. It's not that complex!
