"Please" is powerful for the simple reason that for her, all the hell that she had gone through was rewarded with Chris's return, and she can tell her son, "Your father's here," and that they may even be breathing the same air tonight. John doesn't have the courage to tell her. You wonder how many times the producers of this Musical want us to cry.

one of the most powerful songs with the most meaningful lyrics "can I end this journey please"it's almost been 20 years since watching the show, still touching every time i'm listening to this ...

LOL. That's exactly what Lea said when she performed "Too Much For One Heart" in front of an audience. She said, "because it didn't move the story along," it was thrown out. Before performing it, she ended, saying: "My special treat for you is a song from Miss Saigon `which did not make the cut!'" LOL. PS: I maintain what I said before: citing (now that I know both "T.M.F.O.H" and "Please," I can understand how the producers spent hours, like a sequestered trial jury, trying to decide.

I think it was because it just didn't move the story.

It's always been among my favorites too. Love it. But then, just years ago, I came across a video of Lea singing "Too Much For One Heart": the song which was set to the same music as "Please." Lea said, prior to her performance, that the composers had been debating which of the two to insert into the production. (And, having heard both, as I have, I completely understand how they must've stayed up for hours debating, flipping a coin or something, to finally decide which one to go with.)

This is my absolute favorite ... her hope and love just beats and pulses through out *every* song that Kim sings ... but this one in particular ... I'm not sure why I love it the most, I just do.
