As part of the promotion to entice sales for their new 45rpm microgroove record format (Columbia had already introduced its 33 1/3 speed in 1948), RCA Victor in 1949 & 1950 recorded a series of 15 new "Designed For Dancing" album sets by the label's various bands and orchestras saluting the great songwriters. Monroe's six-tune contribution featured various well-known Victor Herbert melodies, including this 1919 Herbert piano piece that had been popularized with a set of Al Dubin lyrics in 1939.

No lyrics in this version, which fit right in with the resurgence of interest in the "Glenn Miller Sound" around that time, characterized by the rising number of Miller-influenced arrangements being recorded by such bandleaders as Beneke, Flanagan & Anthony. With the added fullness of sound provided by the string section, this is more reminiscent of Miller's wartime orchestra than of his earlier civilian organization.

Keep in mind that, at the time, Vaughn and his band were the headliners on CBS radio's "CAMEL CARAVAN" on Saturday nights...
