This Is My Country is an album by the soul group The Impressions. The album was their first album released on Impressions member Curtis Mayfield's label Curtom Records originally in 1968.

Despite the Impressions late sixties work being known for their social or inspirational viewpoint such as the title track "This Is My Country" and "They Don't Know" the rest of the songs feature Mayfield's soul based love songs. This was their first album which had the Impressions harmonizing less than previous releases, and letting Mayfield take the main vocal point.

Good news, people are good and hate slavery and to our black brothers and sisters we felt your pain and your fight was our fight

I am sure at some point today I'll hear "Born in the USA" pride in America will pretty much be unavoidable on the 4th of July. As we celebrate independence let's remember that America is still a work in progress. Liberty and Justice for all has not been achieved and there are those who would rather march us backward to slavery, than move forward together as equals. We the people...I mean all the people who make up America today have a vested interest in the success or failure of this nation. We can not set back and let a few rich old CEO's determine the course we take. If we do then we will deserve what we get. I was born in the USA and This is my Country.

You know as an American of African, Indian and Irish descent i find it degrading that I am considered as something less than equal to all other transplants in this Country. Only the American Indian is the only natural citizen of this Country. My people's are Natural Citizens as well as Naturalized Citizens. I am twice entitled to this Country. And yet, because i Have African ancestry I am considered a "Bastard". This song made me cry because I know I am as good as any other "Law Abiding" Citizen. Many others are "Law Breakers". They murder other people because of their Greed, Lust and Prejudices. I am guilty of speeding and I cant even get the right to be a Citizen of this Country. Guaranteed to me by the U.S. Constitution, (Twice). Once by the Original Constitution and again by an Amendment to this same U.S. Constitution! I am a Citizen twice over! "This is my Country"!
