Part of it live, but on the chorus its not. Notice Mariah's raspy voice when getting to chorus then when the high notes came, Mariah's voice suddenly become clear. Don't get me wrong, I love Mariah. Ilove all about her. What I'm saying here is what I've observed.

This was the best of all the songs... awesome job, even though there were some pre-recorded spots, there were very few. Absolutely beautiful, brought tears to my eyes!

This is definitely live of course! I think she will not allow her mom to sing with her if Mariah could not sing it live...I mean her mom will only ruin the entire performance if her mom will also lipped...

I love Mariah and I almost cried during this because of the mere thought that this talented woman is giving props to her mom and singing with her this late in her career. Then it reached the end and she had this total lack of intimacy kind of hug to her mother like, "Alright Mom, go away; I let you sing. Remember who the spotlight really belongs to!"

It's amaizing how her mom refuse to opaque, despite Patricia had an awesome and powerful voice, she prefers respect her daughter. Awesome..

@MartinKgpcD1 Just because the mic is a certain length away from her mouth doesn't make it lipped.Mics are made so sound carries, what you say does not hold truth or make sense. I know Chaka Khan can have the damn mic down at her tummy and you can hear her just as well and powerful,It depends on how loud ,resonant and how much volume your voice carries.now if MC had it all the way out thee it would be different debate.it's live.

i belive tht her mother was admiring the way her daughter was singing in the song cause she was always lookin at the way she was singing but she did it wit a smile on her face thinking how lucky she is, to be a mother of a wonderful singer nd proud of how talented nd successful her daughter has been!!!!!

@MartinKgpcD1 yes, when she pulls the microphone while singing "lets adore him..." the sound remains the same. The last whistle seems live with prerecorded background as a support. Mariah (although she often proves differently) said in her first interviews back in the 90's that her whistle register is not there all the time. She displays that same note 100% in the end of "Vision of Love", as seen in TAOM dvd. Hats off! Take care!

@breakup230 that's live, actually u can hear 2 registers , one is from prerecorded one, one is hit by MC

@DherianAlexx yes, it is technically possible to lip some parts and others don't . different sound channels work at the same time and if she pre recorded that in the stage, sound will be almost the same (and microphone will be on all the time, thats why we can hear two beginnings for the final whistle note, which is superb). It means she wants perfection, and don't want to risk the show. The Charlie Brown Christmas was 100%, jazzy, and elegant, proving she is an artist more then a performer...
