I do not own anything, credits to you me at six, more legal stuff here. I noticed that there were not many lyrics videos of this song on YouTube, and since I hadn't made a lyrics video for a long time, I decided to make one of When We Were Younger. I tried a different method than what I did in my last video, so I hope it doesn't suck too bad, haha. I had fun making this video! :) enjoy!

Once again the lyrics:

When I was younger, I always thought,

I could be someone, if I tried enough.

When I was younger, my father said,

Wear a smile, and show respect.

When I was younger, you never said,

When I was older, I'd feel, helpless.

When I was younger, you shone the light,

Now that I'm older, it doesn't shine bright.

When I was younger, you always said,

That as I got older, you'd always, be there.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

When I was younger, I used to care,

About everything that, my father said.

When I was younger, you even told me,

To show evil, the upmost respect.

When I was younger, I never thought,

That when I was older, I'd see you, give-up.

Now that I'm older, I'll carry the torch,

Just promise you'll stand, and be, strong.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

I'm singing oooh ooooh oooh.

When I was younger, I never thought,

When I was younger, I never thought,

When I was older, I'd fight your wars,

When I was older, I'd fight your wars.

I'll do it for you.

I'll do it for you.

I'll do it for you.

I'll do it for you.

When I was younger, I only dreamed,

That when I got older, you'd be proud of me.

When I was younger, I promised you both,

That when I was older, you'd be proud of me.

When I was younger, I actually had brains... and didn't listen to this futile emo bullshit, like you 12 year old girls do...

I can't listen to this song too often because it makes me cry. I made the poor decision to listen to it at school and had a million people ask me if I was okay. It makes me think of my dad, my older sister and grandfather all at once- my dad's been really distant lately, my sister's struggling with an eating disorder, and my grandfather just passed from cancer. It's a beautiful song, but goodness the feels.

Everytime I hear this song I can't stop my tears from coming out, I see in that my bond with my father, I just can't help it. I mean my bond with my father isn't the best, we were never able to understand each other, the last time we tried to talk about it I cried so much and he confessed me that he doesn't know how to act because he feels like I built up a wall and he doesn't know how to act around me, I feel the exactly way but in reality all my life was based on making him and my mother proud of me. I tried to do anything, I studied as hard as I could, for them. After that I started to love studying and I did it also for myself but I always long for one of their compliments and gosh, this is just so frustrating because I know the both of us would like to have a better relationship but after so many years this is so hard.

This song reminds me of my grandparents; I haven't lost them, I haven't even come close to losing them. But I've grown up with them my whole life, they've always been there for me, and I haven't appreciated that so much. Now I see they are getting older, now I'M old enough to understand that they wont be here forever. I've noticed small things about them; greying hairs, napping all day, not driving any more, and these things make me see that (just like he says in the song) the ones you grow up with and look up to can't always be strong for you, and it made me think that just as you start to appreciate your loved ones (especially older ones like your grandparents) you don't have much time left with them. This song really made me think, and i'll be forever grateful for that, but at the same time it kills me what he says in the song.

My mother is really sick and when I was younger I took her happy healthy self for granted i wasnt a ungrateful person but wasn't the best I could of been. Now she's always down and we don't really bond as much. Be thankful for the time you have with people. Because sometimes things sooner or later end up memories.

Omg I can relate to every word he said. I feel the exact same way. My father is going through health problems and we almost lost him two years ago. And its hard watching someone who was your hero go through something painful I love you me at six!.
