The Jesus comparison with respect to Elvis is a metaphor. Obviously due to his addition to narcotics, he was not the king in the divine sense, he was all-to-human. The pill-popping reference alludes to his flaws as someone distinctly not divine. The phrase "Jesus mentioned," is a metaphorical reference to the apotheosis of Elvis since his death. For those who prescribe to the personality cult that has arisen since his passing, it is like he could walk on water: His home is now a shrine. For some of the visitors to Graceland, the trip is described as a pilgrimage. If he were to be dug up, his remains would be scattered and have, for some, the significance and powers comparable the remains of saints.

huge Warren fan for a long time, first saw him at the Main Point, 1976. Don't care for this song or the video. Warren had more talent in his left toe, than Elvis had in his whole fat body.

Does anyone here know the Elvis tune that sounds like a Doors rock tune. Only heard this tune once in a bar where a female claimed it was Elvis. Did Jim Morrison ever sing like Elvis in a song?

Yes, and trying to justify it in so many ways until he hit the porcelain.

Common rationalization of drug addicts..same one that killed most of my family.God bless those doctors who wrote the scrips and the drug companies who profit from selling death to middle class white folks with good insurance. They gonna need some kinda blessing to keep them from burning....welcome to America.

i loved BOTH your stories...I saw Elvis twice...but I never met him... but I did get to meet my hero,Allen Collins from Lynyrd Skynyrd...he wrote Freebird- which reminds me of another Warren song..'Play it all night long'-

Dr. Nichopoulos was a liar. Elvis was a victim of his own addiction. I think that was Warren's point. I'd laugh if it didn't hurt so much.

"According to his main physician, Dr. George C. Nichopoulos, Presley "felt that by getting [drugs] from a doctor, he wasn't the common everyday junkie getting something off the street."[221]" Wikipedia.
