I love this song at 50, as I did at 18. THANKS to being a Red Sox diehard....my beloved Sox lefty, Bill Lee was the conduit to my love for Zevon. Bill often mentioned his adoration for Warren and thus, I delved into this great songster. Damn, his music has stood the test of time flawlessly. Rest in Peace, wonderful Warren! Carmelita and Vera Cruz are two more of Zevon's songs that I love so much.

Hm, I like the `Learning to Flinch` version of this song better, where he plays alone. Incredible, indeed my favorite song. Although I`ve never heard of this version before.
