Yep I agree with that. It's more than writing alone. Something else was better about the '80s output than what's been over the past plus-decade. But there's a couple worthy late '90s productions by Gill and others. Going backward from 'The Way Back Home' ('The Things That Matter' sounds a bit too simplistic) and forward again through to maybe whatever came in '95 are the best for my taste. Thanks for the notice on the latest release...Hard to keep current !

Yes, I like how Vince is now including these old songs in his sets. This song reminds me of 1980s and Rosanne Cash songs too. The older material is much stronger than the new. But, his new album Bakersfield is great and a new style from the stuff Vince had been doing from the late 1990s up to now.
