Bluegrass was blessed that Vince Gill started his career in this gendre and I hope never completely leaves even though the pay is not as good as in country music. Thanks for sharin his music, vocals, lyrics and band.

Jimmy Mills just may be the best banjo player on the planet. He played banjo for Rick Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder for years. Superb banjo player. Has to be to be playing with Vince.

Arkred1, You are entitled to your opinion and observation, I don't hear what you are saying. Mills is not Earl, but the similarities are striking. I don't hear him playing open chords (?) I hear him playing backup passages some out of open position but most out of closed chord positions. The days of one mike led Earl to temper his playing because he could overpower all the other instruments.

Why does the banjo keep playing open chords and not hold back like Earl used to? Sometimes you don't whose playing lead.
