An organic and intuitive approach to keeping time and being in tune with the groove. Also, some nice bass licks to boot.

Try doing this without a metronome and without tapping your foot or moving any other part of your body and see how good your timing is

That's the point of the exercise to play notes at random and still be able to know where the beat is. Using a riff or lick would be too easy. This is advance stuff buddy! In his workshop I believe he starts with a riff and starts taking away clicks from the metronome in order to improve timing. He goes through various stages of timing internalization.

I would rather hear some licks with a feel to it rather than a shit ton of ghost notes/plucks played super fast like that...Although Vic is an amazing bassist, this sucks. I'd be pissed if I paid a bunch of money for this. I have no desire to play like that.

of course we do. we've been taught in psychology class that it's common experience to wake up right before the alarm. imagine how precise can we get.

Interesting concept. Never thought to practice with that. Very cool practice tool.

And this proves what? What do you mean he plays more, more songs per day?

Flea plays more than who?

I said b4 and will say again: Flea plays more than they both together.

on the other hand a too modest teacher doing the usual stuff on bass would make me feel like I've just threw away my money

Well, his DVD 'The Groove Workshop' changed my playing (in a good way, of course) and my thought about music in general. It must be even better in personal. So, I cannot agree with you.
