What a great vocal read Johnny Moore did, especially while walking around.

"Up On The Roof" classic by The Drifters, 1963, written by Carol King and Gerry Goffin.

One of my all time favorite songs. Was an easy song to learn the words and I loved to sing along--even to this day, after all these years, still remember the words and still sing along. Long live the Drifters!

This Is NOT A Lip-Synch, It's Obviously The Amazing Johnny Singing Live. Anyone Can Tell The Difference From Watching Enough Performance Clips & If You Know The Studio Version With Rudy Singing Lead. Back In The Day, Depending On The TV Show, Sometimes Groups/Bands Would Lip-Synch To The Record, Sometimes They Would Mime To A Pre-Recorded Live Version, Sometimes They Would Sing/Play Live Along To The TV Show's Backing Band, & Sometimes They Would Play/Sing Totally Live. I Don't Think The Groups Had Much Say -- It Was Up To The TV Show Producers, The Network, Perhaps The Record Company....

Rudy Lewis sang the recorded version of "Up on the Roof". This is a special cut with Johnny Moore who would return as lead singer of the Drifters after Rudy's untimely death from a heroin overdose.

Great Song and Video. Remember hearing this on my parents Am Radio as a young child in the 60's . I think Carole King wrote this song.

Another darling of a tune, one that you can overdo a little and it still sounds great. A song of escaping (even for a while) the stresses/problems of life, finding some freedom from these. As you might imagine it is better if you are with someone you love. There is ALWAYS room for two. Put this one at #187 on the countdown.
