I put this on my play list because it's a rock version of a good song with a powerful reminder. During my childhood, I basically grew up without a father figure and now understand the importance of having one. Especially now that I'm a father of two. I traveled and worked all over the Middle East for several years chasing the almighty dollar. I missed out on a lot of time and important events with my daughter and son that I'll never get back. In retrospect, that time away just wasn't worth it. Lucky for me, it's all good now.

The title of the original Harry Chapin version and this version is slightly different. The Harry Chapin version is "Cat's in the Cradle". This version eliminates the apostrophe in "Cat's", hence "Cats in the Cradle".Either way, both versions are great.

My dad used to never really care for the family except bringing the money home. He never spent quality time with us and when my parents divorced I went with my mom and he never really cared much so the relationship became very alienated. Now he makes an effort again to have at least a bit contact but I'm not sure if I should respond to it. So this song makes me kinda sad on occasion.
