I play this song and have since around the time this was filmed. Listening to it today makes me think of one of my recent songs, "Simple Song" with a chorus that goes, "Sing a song that's simple and true, with meaning for me and you, with feeling and words so clear - something simple that will last for years". This song has all of that! R.A,

I've loved this song from the beginning, having seen Tom Paxton perform this at The Main Point or at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. Shortly after, my friend and I were getting on the PA Tpke, but too a wrong turn, towards NJ instead. As luck would have it, Tom Paxton was just by the toll booths, looking for a ride. So we decided to give him one, to the next rest stop at least. No room in the car for playing, hardly room for the guitar, since we were driving a Renault (pronounced 'Ren-AWLT' back then), but we had a nice chat with him. Nice memory brought back after all these years!
