John Peel favourites back in 1986 with a frantic cover of an Orange Juice tune. James Kirk of Orange Juice wrote it, hence the bit about William Shatner at the start.

Not a bad cover, but really, OJ's version is truly sublime.

You're absolutely correct, i'm ashamed of myself for not remembering that too! My sincere apologies for springing to the wrong conclusion.

I welcome corrections but this isn't one! I was a fan of OJ back in the day and can assure you that James Kirk (from Glasgow) was in the original line up. He released his own version of Felicity on a solo album about ten years ago. He also sang on a couple of tracks on "You Can't Hide Your Love Forever" - OJs first and best LP. The band then wasn't just back up for Edwyn Collins.

This song was originally written by "Edwyn Collins" from "Orange Juice" and the "Shatner" reference is because The Wedding Present have a song called "Shatner". Just to keep you right! : ) James Kirk was captain of the Enterprise in the original series of Star Trek and was definitely NOT a memeber of the Scottish band "Orange Juice" : D

1:58-2:08. Ten seconds of blissful, joyous thrash which always makes me smile ("..the sound of happiness" indeed). Didn't even know it was an Orange Juice song.

Thanks for uploading this. One of the very few really great cover versions.
