Diana recorded this at 6 a.m. one day before leaving Detroit to go on tour. She just tore into the song and sizzled with it. At the same session such recorded "Heaven Must Have Sent You." I thought these were the best vocals she ever did with the Supremes...and they initially weren't even released!

@LoveTheSupremes You don't know much about the workings of Motown, do you. You are so wrong............so wrong!

Oh puhleez.. Diana didn't want to leave Motown. She was a millionairess before she left The Supremes, and was living a childhood dream of being a singer

LOL, well excuse me I never made any attempt to insult you so please don't ATTEMPT to insult me. That was another problem with Motown, THEY DIDN'T LET THEIR ARTISTS LEAVE. They treated Flo like shit, but they wouldn't even allow her to leave. In order to get away from Motown she had to sign away her rights to mention she even formed the group The Supremes yet alone was a member of the group in its most successful years, even your beloved god Diana had trouble leaving Motown

I apologise Diana lover BUT you said "most" leads and she would still get MOST leads. What I was proposing was that Diana would have MOST leads on the albums and Mary and Flo would get a lead or so. That sort of contrast would have gotten their later albums better reviews as all 3 could SSAAAANG. Oh and honey, Motown weren't branding a "group" they were branding Diana Ross...at the expense of not only the people in the group but OUTSTANDING vocalists like KIM WESTON

No it had nothing to do with the formula, the formula only mattered on the singles this was a regular album track, like I said, Mary even got a lead on the album. Flo's soul would have really rocked out These Boots. Diana had enough leads on the album and it would have only been fair for Flo to get a lead as Mary had one. Flo's voice would have been AWESOME on their cover of Can I Get A Witness where Diana just sounds stupid LOL she was great on the singles but she just doesn't deliver on there

I really don't know why she wasn't given These Boots. It was recorded sometime in early 1966 so it was unlikely Flo was missing sessions... If Flo had a lead on that track wooo...could you imagine her SAANGING like she did on AIN'T THAT GOOD NEWS then at the end could you imagine her just as soulful speaking voice, belt "BOOTS, START WALKIN'!" haha. Anyway I Need to finish the vid I started for the first take of Flo's first single It Doesn't Matter How I Say It

No, Heatwave is on The Supremes Sing Holland-Dozier-Holland and so is It's The Same Old Song. Florence should have been giving These Boots Are Made For Walking, apparently she was suppose to have the lead in the first place and not only would it have been fair (as Mary had a lead on that album) but Flo would have ROCKED that song.

I can't stand hearing those frikkin' Andantes instead of the real Supremes. If you're gonna have backgrounds, have ones that don't sound like transvestites...!
