There is something in the way Julian sings this song, some kind of irony or sarcasm that makes me think that what he really wants to say is "fuck, I really need somebody"

i will go on to try to explain why this song is so genius and why i love it; it combines so many elements, the intro feels like a cool hip hop/r&b beat, the it goes on to this light hearted yet nostalgic vocal verses and funky guitar arpeggio while the bass drops heavy, then the 2nd guitar drops a darker guitar strummin that changes the tonal sensation, then the guitar goes into this totally reggae hawaiin rythim, and the bass droppin faster funky rythim almost like a hip hop song again,the vocals with an undeniably catchy and charismatic "never needed anybody", then a happy bridge that fabrizio marks with a hi hat counter beat, then a fantastically original and again funky guitar solo like youve never heard, the song is so funky and happy yet so nostalgic melow and emotional, the vocals are recorded with a dostortion effect and have moments of lou reedeske appeal.lyrics are simple yet effective.
