(from Wikipedia): "Daughter" is a rare The Smashing Pumpkins flexidisc single written by Billy Corgan and D'arcy Wretzky that was issued only to Reflex Magazine subscribers. It is an extended version of a track from the 1989 Moon demo which the Smashing Pumpkins sold at their early shows in Chicago. The song has never been widely released, as this magazine subscription only single was pressed in very limited quantities and the track was not included in their Rarities and B-Sides digital collection. Since flexidiscs are notoriously unreliable and this one saw limited distribution, this is among the rarest Smashing Pumpkins releases.

Anyone here ever listen to the Devendra Banhart song "Won't You Come Home" from his 2013 album Mala? It sounds a lot like this song. In fact there are quite a few similarities between the two. As soon as I heard the Banhart song I immediately thought of Daughter.

I kind of wish they never took The Cure out of their sound. Gish is by far their best era to me.

This is going to sound sort of silly, but I've been looking hard for a Smashing Pumpkins B side/rarity but can't remember the name of the song. All I remember is that it was a very energetic song that went on for a bit longer than most of their other ones, with a lot of solos thrown in, sort of one building onto the other. It was definitely D'arcy/Iha/Chamberlain era Pumpkins too. If anyone has any ideas what it could be please let me know, it was a really great track and I'd like to hear it again

The only song D'arcy was ever officially credited with helping write. So beautiful.

amazing band. how come they could afford to waste songs like this. This is way better than an average Gish song. (And Gish is insanely great record...)

@kylereece1979 I was obsessed with them too (still am) in the mid 90s after being fortunate enough to find the early websites dedicated to sharing their rare and live songs like the Realm Of Soft Delusions, SPAA or Usenet. I spent many hours downloading the songs on my universities network and then zipping them all up across 90+ floppy disks. Come to think of it that may be a contributing factor in my not getting a very good grade... oh well :D
