I absolutely adore Rufus, but his style didn't really match the song to me. The delays, and slur that is so wonderfully characteristic of him sort of dragged over the song. It lost the emotion. Still love Rufus, but I guess the reality of the situation is that no one could do Origin of Love better than John Cameron Mitchell.

The best song to celebrate this beautiful day of the 22nd of April 2013. France has adopted Gay wedding!

This is just how Rufus Wainwright sings. He always sounds kind of disinterested.

I'm really starting to like this guy. Reminds me of a George and Dylan combo. I heard about him first from Sean.

I love Rufus Wainwright, but this is way better in Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Hutch doesn't think it's disrespectful to cover songs. S/he said s/he was looking forward to the cover, looking FORWARD to it... just didn't like it in the end.

Love his voice on this. Not sure how I feel about his phrasing yet, but I put that down in part to my being so used to the original. Not saying he should copy it note for note, but personally I would have liked a bit more rhythm. But it's his cover, so what works for him. Always room for interpretation

I can't believe the people trashing this when Cameron Mitchel himself asked for and approved this cover! If the original artist respects this ...It is right on!

Anyone who's not used to Rufus' voice and way of singing, won't like this. Move on. I liked it btw.
